I hope this is not too bad for a first attempt, Should I start over?
I have been dragging my feet on this project to the tune of about 9 months and got started a little to fast.
First my mistakes:
1) I put the pump bushing in and forgot to orient the seam as directed in the ASTG guide. It is about 75* to the right.
2) I have an 082 pump body and I did not drill the drain back hole to relieve pressure on the front seal.
3) I did not red locktite the seal in place - just pressed it in.
4) I was able to hold everything in place without the use of trans-gel. I noticed that it is recommended to use cam lube in the rotors of the pump. Is this a red? Can I use petroleum jelly in place of the trans gel?
Thanks for the help,
