and I thought I would share with everyone.......I'll try and keep it short.

I work at a motorcycle shop in a small town. Our service manager's name is Tony. One of his high school friends is in the Reserves and had just recently come home from his second trip to Iraq.He had come by the shop to see Tony and also to look into possibly getting a little dirtbike for his boy for Xmas. We'll he came back into the store yesterday to tell Tony that he could not afford to get the bike and that he was also going to be going back to Iraq for the third time by the end of the month, so his son was probably not going to get much for Xmas this year, cuz money was going to be too tight for the next several months...

So he says goodbye and walks out the door.As soon as he does, another customer walks over to Tony and says that he overheard their conversation and was wandering wich dirtbike he was looking at what the price of it was.So Tony points it out, tells him how much it is, and walks off to get this customer's 4-wheeler out of the service shop. When he comes back to the counter, this customer hands him a check for the dirtbike. He says,"Don't tell that soldier who I am, I want to remain anonymous.Tell him thanks for his service, and being out on the front line. And Merry Christmas!"

We were all just blown away! For real.We didn't know what to think. It took us the rest of the day to track down Tony's friend. We finally ended up calling the school where his son was at and talked to the teachers about what was going on.When he came to pick up his son after school, the teachers told him he had a dirtbike waiting for him up at the shop.About 6 teachers came down with him to see him pick it up, and let me tell you, he was just SPEECHLESS!He couldn't beleive it.It was so cool, we were all just smiling from ear to ear...................

We gave him a helmet and some gear for his boy to go along with it, loaded him up, and watched him drive off...

Man, I wish that would happen every day. It was really cool! -Joel

That is really cool!!! I'm sure good deeds happen every day, but they're even more special when you witness them.

Later,

Steve.

THANKS!

I want to personally thank you for posting this here on our board for all to share.:)

It is a very heart-warming story especially now when many of our service people are in a foreign country keeping us safe.

Talk about character. That is really something. Thanks for sharing this.

we have a similar thing happen every year at one of the jobs i work at (Wal-Mart) A man that grew up in an orphanage and is now a wealthy person takes a elementary school of 1st and 2nd graders and has them bused to our store and buys the kids new shoes every year. He spends a little over 9 thousand dollars a year on these kids. He says when he was younger he had to do without shoes many times so wants to make sure that none of the kids have to.

could you imagine how good it would feel to do something like that?

You really dont have to be super rich to do stuff like that. Although not on that grand of a scale but next time you see a veteran eating dinner with his family in a restraunt get the manager over to your table and tell him/her that you would like to cover the bill for the veteran and his family. Tell the manager not to say anything to them about the bill being paid until the veteran gets ready to leave/pay and then only that it was paid by someone who appreciates their effort.

Good deed done.

Or you can donate to your local tb.com care package. :) Sorry.. shameless plug.

Honestly, that story was really inspiring. Best of all, it's a true story. I like to think of myself as a generous person although I don't have a lot of money to give at the moment. It really is the thought that counts. :)
