I am agnostic...and for anyone that states that the absence of god is the absence of a solid moral foundation is flat out wrong. I would put my morals up against ANYONE on this board. Anyone....I am not going to debate this like a child...I could care less if Bruce wants to post about religion on the board but when the holier than thou BS starts then it has crossed the line.

I volunteer at homeless shelters
I house stray animals until the humane society can find a home.
I don't cheat on my wife.
I don't cheat on my expense reports.
I give a solid days work to my employer for my pay and I advocate my company, myself and my family wherever I go.

I am not perfect but I try...and again I have a real hard time believing in God. If God is love then he wouldn't be a vengeful god and he sure as hell wouldn't let those who represent him act in the manner they do. No burning bushes since the Camcorder and CNN was invented...funny.

Now get off your soapbox and do not talk down to those who think differently from you. That would make you a real Christian.

Blownz, I could not agree more with you on everything you said. The question I often ask of religious folks is: If god was really that just, would he not be more impressed with someone who tried to be the best person they could just because they thought it to be the right thing to do, or someone who did so because they thought were told to. As far as your help at shelters goes, that is quite admirable. I can hardly afford anything lately because I have given so much money away (and I ain't got much!) lately because I have seen so many people stranded, hitch-hiking, etc. Keep it up, man-- you sound like an alright $h!t.

Everyone who's trying to shape this posts' topic into a pro or con view of religion is doing a great disservice to the posts central point and how it's viewed by the readers here.

That you are arguing the pros or cons about religion in fact shows you are speaking up for something you are in fear of losing. i.e. your opinion about religion, whether it's your belief in it or your belief in not having need for it.

This place is getting harder and harder to frequent. We all have stresses in our lives and a freakin bulletin board shouldn't be one of them. Just like the stupid vendor disputes, follow your own rules and settle it off the board.

It is for OFF TOPIC discussions, So something like this post is posted in the right place wether this be a car BB or a fishing BB.
