Song ID, please help!

It's driving me crazy, I need to find the name and singer of this song. Here's what I know about it: It came out in either 1993 or 1994, it was a HUGE hit (prolly went to #1), was sung by a black girl with a large gap in her tooth (as seen in the video), and goes SOMETHING like this:

I know what to do it yeaaaaaah,
Now I know what to say (?) it yeaaaaaah,
I know what to etc., etc.

Please help!

Was it Tracy Chapman?

She was the only person I can think of that had a gap in her front teeth. But it looks like she's had the gap fixed.

I could picture the face, but couldn't think of the name.

No, not her. Some guy over on Corral Net came up with it. The song is from 1994, the name of it is I Know, and it is sung by Dionne Farris.
