I will bet you are right on the money! It is like playing the stock market on when you fill your vehicle with fuel. I just topped off at 2.89 for 87 octane and thought to myself that by this evening that will be good price. I bought 110 octane for $4.40 a gallon so it doesn't seem to be that big of deal running 110 on the street when 94 octane is $3.29.

Of course oil prices are going up already, as a result of the Alaska problem. Ask yourself this: do you think when it is fixed, the prices will go back down? Sometimes I wonder if this stuff isn't a scam.

Thank god i just bought a 98 honda civic LX automatic with 53k miles on it that will give me 36mph on the hwy. ;)

If you look at the price of oil compared to other things- that is, if you correct for inflation- you will see that it actually went DOWN from the lage eighties until just the last few years. So the high prices we are paying seem even worse, because they came from a "low point". So, when you say "they won't go down again", you're ignoring the fact that they were already low for a long time. And that they are STILL low, compared to Canada, or England, or France, or Germany, or... well, you get the picture.

You're right Ormand but it is still more $$$ coming out of my wallet than before.

Called my heating oil company today to get my tank topped off before my contract expires and they say they will not come out for less than a 180 gallon delivery. F'ers want to screw us on that too I guess. Today's lock in price is $2.86 a gallon for the winter.

They also are not a "car culture"

the reason prices are high in those God-forsaken socialist countries is because they tax the hell out of their subjects so they can support their massive social welfare machines.

We should never make any comparison between the USA and those places unless it is to demonstrate the failure of their system.
