Ok what the HxLL is the difference to this wording on the back of my ticket mean.

I have 3 selections to choose
--------------------------------------------
NOT GUILTY & wish to a trial

GUILTY

NOLO CONTENDERE (no contest)

---------------------------------------------
NOLO CONTENDERE. Is this for our spanish population?

Or will selecting GUILTY over NOLO mean something toward my insurance rating :(

Guilty will go against your insurance. I fight every ticket I get. Haven't got one in a while. When I would fight it, they would let me pleade "no contest" in court, and if you don't have a bad record, they'll just charge you $50 or so for court costs and your done. It differs from state to state. In broward county alone they average over 900,000 tickets a year. About 25% of them are fought in court, so they do their best to push them through really quickly and not clog up the courts.

Hey Steve,
No contest means that you are admitting to nothing. You don't think that you are guilty, you've done nothing wrong. That's your story and you are sticking to it. But, you, for whatever reason want to pay the fine. (You can't get out of work to fight it, you don't care, you have warrants out for your arrest, and are afraid to show your face in court, or for whatever reason. The thing is, it means the same to the registry for points on your license, and to your insurance company for surcharge. You still have to pay, and the outcome in all respects is the same. It's kind of like saying, " Ah to heck with it. Here's the money, but I still don't think I did anything wrong."

Ah to heck with it. Here's the $90-, but I still don't think I did anything wrong....

I guess $90 is 3 tanks of gas.

I guess it is a small price to pay seeing that I speed most of the time anyway.

The insurance factor is more what bugs me.

Do they have radar detectors out there today that work good against radar?.

If you plead "no contest" in court it doesn't go against your record or insurance, because instead of paying the ticket they "withhold adjudication" and you only pay court costs.

:D :D :D :D no sheet

It may be different state to state, but in VA a Nolo Contendere plea counts the exact same as a guilty plea. The courts in VA have nothing to do with points. The courts simply forward their findings to the DMV and they access the points to your license.
