The other day I went to drive my car and all of the sudden the speedo was not working. It's in the tranny securely and seems to be connected under the dash. Any ideas?

Broken upper or lower cable is most common. Test it by disconnecting the lower cable from the transmission and rotate the tip while a friend watches for needle movement. If you can seperate upper and lower (I couldn't) you can test the upper cable the same way. Aftermarket cables are sometimes different lengths than the originals so replace both if you go that way.

Check you cruise control tranducer. They sometimes sieze up.

If just the plastic tip on the cable is broke, you can replace it, and not the entire cable (It's hot glued on).

also check the plastic drive gear in the transmission. mine was
stripped. just unscrew the speedo cable from the trans then
undo the 10mm bolt that holds the gear in. it just slides out.
look at very closely as mine was only partly worn. if you've
had a bouncy speedo this is probably the cause.

from what I hear, it dosn't even need one...what are the chances of it breaking an speed limits anyway?

or maybe it forgot how to work because it did some much sitting?

First off, do you have the dig dash or the analog dash???

If you have the dig dash, it is probably a bad power supply on the circuit board...

If it's the analog dash, then the responses you got earlier will help you out some there...
