On occasions on the highway I like to floor it at 60 MPH and with more stall it might slow it down at the top end.

If you had a quality converter it woudnt matter what the stall speed is . I will have data on a 3200 PTC and a 66 GTQ .85 precision housing BB cartridge very soon. Dusty said to expect under 5% slippage up top. The car will mph in the 130-132 range at 25-26 psi if the un-girdled stock bottom end doesnt explode. Less than 5% slip. Imagine that. Nobody would ever believe those numbers 10 years ago but they are the norm with a PTC converter these days. I expect the car to accelerate like it was shot out of a cannon from 60+mph. Should be going 120+ in about 7-8 seconds from a 60mph rolling punch if theres traction:tongue: . Converter tech today is light years ahead of even 5 years ago.

turbo6mike,i run the protorque 3200 10.5 inch lockup on my ta49 to nearly 120mph, and have backhalfed 25mph,so you should be alright.a couple of my friends have more agressive combo's with roller cam and heads 130mph trap speeds no problems with the protorque.

bison, keep us posted on that combo.are you running the 9 inch unlock or a locked unit?i must say ungirdled you have a brass set of b####

Non lock. I ran a AC non lock at 14% slip with on the 10.88 pass. More exhaust wheel, cooler air, a much better converter and the stock MAFS restriction is now gone. Should pick up at least 5 mph. Maybe 6 or 7. It was 85 degrees when i ran 126mph. I wont make more than 2 passes with it. The first time it breaks 130mph trap speed its officially retired. I should throw the FAST on it to be safer. Maybe i will:D .

Buttonfly????What was your top end with your 3200???I installed my 6152 and Im going to put my 3200 pro-torque converter in soon but I dont want it to kill my top end.I talked to some of the companies that sell this stuff and they all say 3200 stall is the best but I guess the people with the actual experience is better to ask. Thanks

Sorry I havn't been on here since Saturday. Conventional wisdom pushes us towards the 3200. Dusty was a huge help on this, but I was loosing 7 mph from what I was doing last year:eek: . I was only seeing 250 rpm drop between shifts which explains the 7 mph loss in the 1/4. It was just way to loose, and we needed to tighten it up. I looked at the Pro torque also. I really liked working with Dusty on this though. He is very knowledgable and willing to help out. He told me the 2800 will get up on boost just as quick just be alot tighter on the top end. I have been really pleased with PTC so far!!
