Spark plug choice is varied I see. But as long as it ends in R43TS and is gaped at .32, we are all set. Now give me a little guidance on the plug wires. Should I get some performance ones from a vendor on this board? Go with stock wires? Make my own? What do you guys use/think? I see you bought Taylor's. What was your experience with them?

My .02 cents....I tried the R43TS gapped a tight .35, car was sluggish and started to get knock.. Changed to Autolight 24's and it's like a brand new car Again, opinions will be varied, but just my .02cents worth...

Maybe that was due to the gap? The guys are suggesting .32 on a stock car. So if your car was more than stock, could that have caused the issue? Can someone tell me where to get a DIY Spark plug kit? I would rather do it myself to get the proper fit. Or again, if you have any more opinions on it!

Yup...
0.35 is to wide...if you had gapped narrower, it likely would have fixed the issue. Next time you're due for pugs if you feel compelledyou can try the R43TS with a nrrower gap and see if the problem comes back....might even want to close the gap on your autolights a tad and see if you feel a difference...

0.32 for stock boost levels as WilliamsGN has advised...

0.28 for boost at higher levels...figure it out based on your combo's needs, but I started gapping at 0.28 when I started running boost at 18lbs and higher and have never been dissapointed.
I run 21lbs on the street and 24-25 at the track on 91 octane and alky and have never personally had an issue with R43TS n my combo.

Interesting info on the Plug gap guys. I've always ran .035" @ 20psi and less and .032" after I started running alky, Per Julio of course.

Just Ohm test your wires, as long as they are consistent (slightly higher resistance on the longer wires), you are good to go. Inspect them for any cracking, etc.

I did earlier to see if I could wait. Wires checked out good, so I am going to just leave them for now.

Okay guys, went to Autozone. This is what I bought:

I have some questions though.. This is the PCV they gave me, which I believe is not correct:

Also, hopefully this will go in tomorrow also: (A used GSS340 Walboro pump from a board member)

I have one last question though. I recieved this in a raffle last year at Pat's Auto (Miguel's place). I was wondering if I could use this on a stock car. It comes with push lock fittings. The diameter of the tube is not enough for things such as the PCV. Is there information on this particular piece?

I just literally last week put a set of Summit Brand (which are some manufacturers wires becasue we all know Summit makes nothing) 8mm Universal custom fit spiral core wires on my 87. The part number i think was SUM-826G. They even came with crimping pliers, which i didnt use becasue I already have a better pair, and 2 extra wires just in case you mess 1 up. Customs are the only way to go as far as Im concerned. They look perfect. Heres a picture:

i run ngk ur5's with good results gapped at .028 FWIW...

and why the synthetic? it seems to be a pretty well respected fact that zddp with dino oil works great and it'll cost ya half as much!! if you really wanna spend the $ tho, i'm sure most would agree it would be more beneficial to use dino/zddp and change it twice as often again, i'm far from an expert, but there's my .02

well, synthetic without zddp cost me a cam, all I can say is use the damn zddp or go roller. I ended up going roller when the cam wiped, motor still isnt back in the car.

Your PVC is correct...... However, if you blow on it, it will allow air to pass through. You need to get the plastic version. It is listed somewhere on this site. I think it is like 1162..... You can blow air through this one.

I did some research, and after looking through a few pages I found it is 1162. Your memory is correct! Thanks guys, I can't wait to get working on it tomorrow. Later this week, Ill have a TT Chip and 42.5lb Injectors to add also .

Just FYI...RJC makes a heavy duty PCV valve...
I have not installed mine yet, but it's intended to remedy blow-by issues. I don't have a blow by issue....just wanted a better PCV next time around...

Spark plug wires are a tough choice. There are so many different brands, sizes, high performance.. What is best for a stock car that plans to go alcohol in the future? Suggestions . If you could be more specific Charlie, like what size wires, where you get them would be very helpful if you can.

Their are many good wires,I have found the MSD boots the best,they don"t stick and stay positive locked.I ran a fleet of propane trucks which are very hard on sec ignition and the MSD is the only wire to stand up for 5 years.Buy the universal set the tool comes in the box with instructions and then you have 2 spare wires for the future.Good luck and enjoy the car they are a blast:biggrin:

Ive been running CR43TS's for a long while now, no problems whatsoever above 25psi. No problems from my MSD wires as well.

I run Hastings filters on my car, no problems either. Im gonna switch to some dino oil at my next change out. Been running full syn for as long as Ive owned it.

I agree with everything already said, but I didnt read it all.:redface:

Only thing I can add is to clean the IC out, with kerosene. I like it best personally. Works great.

Other than that, I got nothing to add.
