I'm running a PAC alky kit. The car has upgraded pump, adj. reg, and good exhaust system. Other than that it's stock. I had the sputtering problem, put on a new coil pack and it went away. This was with boost in the 20# range. I've also been chasing high BLM's issues and they were fixed with new injectors.

Before the car had stock injectors, now it has 50lb.

Now the boost is set at 24psi with the 50lb injectors and Turbo Tweak chip. I had the fuel pressure at 42psi with the line off and the blue knob on the PAC kit in the middle. It sputtered and broke up badly at WOT. I figured too much fuel and reduced the FP to 39psi with the line off. NO CHANGE. I then backed the blue knob on the alky from the 12 0'clock position to the 10 o'clock position. On this pass the sputtering was pretty much all gone. The o2's were 850-860 in first and second gear and 790-800 in 3rd gear. Injector duty cycle was around 70%.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Lower the fuel in the chip by putting it into program mode. Drop it from 128 to like 122 and that will lean out the car. leave the alky in the middle position.

Our cars will run the in 800's in the bottom gears, that is normal, and the O2's should taper down into the mid-upper 700's. That is normal. Sounds like it can use a little less fuel.

You want more alky and less fuel. Let the chip do its job pulling fuel. You have to get out of dropping fuel rail pressure as the fix. Leave the fuel pressure at 42 and drop the fuel in the chip. Thats why its there ;) so you dont mess up your drivability. Watch the O2's as the boost comes up..

Still wont discount plug gaps, coil pack, module, etc.. just yet. Your car had bad injectors.. could of fouled the plugs??

Also does it sputter at 8 PSI, 10 PSI, 14 PSI? Or only at 22+ PSI? Will it run lean and mean at 18 PSI? Or 20?

Send me a file to look at.

Glad to see the BLM problem got solved.

It's very easy to drown the stock turbo when using alcohol. As Julio said, keep pulling fuel until it cleans up (watch for knock, as always).

If you're going to keep the stock turbo on there, I can make the adjustment permanent for you if you want.

Eric

Thank's guys. I forgot the chip was adjustable. I did replace the wires, coil pack, and module the other day. I've also replaced the plugs (gapped .032"), but not since I replaced the injectors.

I'll check the plugs, put the FP back at 42#, and try to figure out how to pull the fuel out thru the chip.

Julio
The boost does ok up to 20psi, over that it breaks up.

Eric
Can I adjust the chip using Direct Scan. I don't have a Scanmaster.

Thanks

Ok guys, here is some more info. Went to a 1/8 mile track today. Checked the plugs and they looked fine. Set the fuel pressure back to 42. Pulled the boost back from 24 to 22 (just in case)

Pulled the fuel from the chip down to 122. The car still did the sputtering at WOT. I then pulled the fuel in the chip to 116 and left everything else alone. The sputtering is almost gone. Just does it a tad on the shift now. I did notice on ONE pass on the shift the MAF #'s went from 255 to 38 then came right back to 255.

On the last pass the car did pick up 4 1/2 MPH in the 1/8, but the ET was right in line with every other pass. I know the 60ft was a 1/10 off so I know it's got more in it the way it's tuned right now, but it's still not quite right.

One thing that puzzles me is I had the boost set at 22psi all day, never touched the actuator. When I pulled the fuel to 116 in the chip (all I touched) it went to 20 psi on that pass.??????

Now I know I've got some bugs left, but my last TR ran 7.80's 1/8 mile with 1.80 60ft's with 20psi of boost and stock injectors.

This one only wen 8.12 with 22psi.

Julio- Been trying to send you the DS files from today, but my email isn't working for some reason. I'll do it tomorrow from the Potsbyross@aol.com PC.

Thanks

Hey Benji. I met ya a while back at steele when you had the brown T. Looks like your getting alot of stuff done to the new one in short time. If your going to steele sometime maybe i can meet you and help with tuning or something, dont know if your still living in GA or not.

Hey Jacob

Nice to see you still around. I had to take a while off when my son was born, He had heart surgery. But he's doing fine now so, thought I'd get another car.

I'll give you a shout next time I get to go to Steele.

PS-How's your car running these days?
