Starter won't spin

So I'm coming back home tonight, decided to stop for a couple of movies, and when I get back in, starter doesn't crank. I have lights and power everywhere, just no cranking. It's crappy and rainy, my date was very appreciative, and lastly: a random buddy drove by and gave us a lift home, so relatively little damage. No click, no nothing when I cycle the key. I am assuming the fusable link is fine, and I have a bad solenoid, but figured I'd ask for some input before I blindly threw parts at it.

The car is pretty close to my house, was thinking of jumpering the solenoid to get it home and give it a thorough diagnosis in my cold dry garage. Any input on testing/jumping the solenoid and/or starter.
