Te44 or ta49...which would you recommend with a stock converter. I have a 44 that needs an exhaust housing and a rebuild...just curious if I'm going the right direction.

I think the new GT3255 spools up even quicker for the street with a stock d5 converter- may want to look into it. If not then the TE-44.

I know nothing about rebuilding turbos...but I wonder if the 44 I have could be rebulit as a GT 3255 since you can get one with the "TE" compressor housing...I'm going to have to have a new exhaust housing anyway. Am I on crack?

te 44 will pull harder on the top end versus the smaller GT3255 turbo.

If you run the D5 convertor, i would highly suggest getting a RJC bleeder valve to get the turbo to spool faster.

I know a car locally with a 49 turbo, stock D5, RJC bleeder, and a Eric Marshall chip and it spools faster than a stock turbo. This car even has the stock airbox
