Stock fuel guage

Yesterday filling up gas I noticed the needle was way past the full line, it even went below the dash trim so you can't even see the dial. But driving for a few miles it came back up. Sending unit going bad?

What was it doing previously?
Could be the car was on a slope and then when you moved the car, the gas level float returned to normal. As long as the gauge gives a repeatable indication of fuel level I wouldn't worry.
None of them are very accurate anyway.

Mine has done that since it was new....I can rap on the plastic above the gauge and it will move back sometimes

It was fine before, but I noticed my Wife had the fuel on the lower side (betweem E and 1/4 tank), when I filled it up full I started the car and the dial went all the way past F and like mentioned before you can't even see the dial.
