Stock GN's look out for F-150's! Sounds crazy doesn't it?

There were no middle 80's muscle cars. :p

Late 80's there were one or two....

I bought my wife an Ecoboost Flex and I really like it. Its getting 17 mpg all around and about 21 cruising at 80 on the highway. I try to steal it every chance I get. Its funner to drive than my Denali truck with a westers tuned 6.2L and awd

The Ecoboost is no joke. My wife's DD is a 2010 EB Flex Limited and it runs mid 13's with nothing more than a tune. I have a buddy with a Flex that has recently run 12.4's on motor with a 5500ft DA in 100 degree weather with bolt-ons. He has been fixing some quirks and will be pulling 11's all day long with fuel system mods, upgraded compressor wheels, tuning, intake, catless DP's, and DR's. He will have some products / recipies available in the near future. I can't wait to see what some bigger turbos, and mods necessary for E85 will do if you put that into a SHO.

?

Are we talking about the same guy?? 4DRHTRD ?

There are a couple Flex's running 12's on Alky. The one I'm talking about has gone low 12's on a E85 / 91 mix.

There's a couple Eco F150's on one of the forums that I frequent that are running 12's. One ran 12.87 with a tune and downpipe. The other ran 12.74 with a tune, downpipe, CAI and a 65 shot.

I may have lost the race...nice car again David....but I did get a little over 15 mpg TOWING my car from Michigan...

While these twin turbo engines intrigue me,it seems they stay true to their mantra.

Results may vary. I've been driving Ford trucks for over 30 years and have never had to bring one in for warranty work. This includes my 2011 Ecoboost which has been trouble free for 2.5 years so far. My friend's Chebbys have not been trouble free.

That's pretty darned impressive mileage Rick!! I think your only limiting factor was traction. With my AWD I was able to launch on the foot brake at WOT, and not spin even a tiny bit. Was fun though wasn't it.

Ya, right!

Let's see now, who is it that still has the no. 1 spot in pickup sales, and has held that spot for over 35 years running?? You don't make and hold records like that by selling bad stuff. You have to keep customers coming back, and that's what Ford does with quality. This arguement will never die so this is the last I'll say on the matter.

I know the Ford trucks are good trucks and they have been #1 in sales but.... (here we go) lol If you add the Sierra and the Silverado together doesn't it surpass the F150 in sales? It's the same truck anyway.

I once towed my GN to the Ford vs Buick in Oklahoma with a F250 and it was the only Ford in front of my Buick all day!

Ha, good one. My boss bought an f150 ecoboost a few months ago. I drove it and was surprised at how quick it was from a stand still. I drive a silverado ss so I am biased. He just bought a down pipe and alky, we will be taking it to the track next tues night. I am very curious to see what it does. Our local strip is only an 1/8 though.

In the 1/8 I would bet 8.30-8.50 if he has traction. I'm more interested in his mph and how much boost. Keep us posted.

My EB Flex has 86K on the clock now. The previous owner took it to the dealer for everything and from the records there are no failures other than an ignition coil. I have replaced one fuel injector and that has been it. The biggest problem people have with these is the injectors getting gummed up and causing a lean condition under WOT. The problem is that these things run so pig rich in the top end that the injector issue only shows up as an occasional sputter right as you get into it that gives out no codes. People go to the dealers and they cannot diagnose it and end up giving the customers the run around. As soon as you put a tune on it with a normal AFR, you get a misfire on a cylinder and the nannys immediately kick in, pulling throttle and opening the wastegates. If you look at the log data, you will see the short term fuel trims go way high on one bank. These have WB02's and run in closed loop at WOT BTW. Now you know which injector it is.

That being said, this is not a Ford problem, it is a direct injection problem. Everyone is going DI and there are going to be issues resulting from carbon / sludge buildup due to no fuel spraying on the backs on the intake valves like in the old days. I mitigate this with some good 'ol Seafoam every so often.
