stock headgasket thickness???

after reading many many threads why is it that i have seen .060 and also .040 im under the impression that .040 has always been the stock size head gasket??? experts whats your take on this and does anyone know if you can get custom size cometics??? i see them in .040 and .060 and thats it

stock 86-87 graphite composite was approx .070

GM steels shim gasket (two thin stacked steels) are approx .037


the cometic multi layer steel gasket is made from two outer coated embossed thin steels (aprrrox .010 ea) and a single heavier uncoated steel center(.020) to make up the .040 gasket
.060 gasket uses two layers of the heavier steel in the center

far as i know they also offer a .090 gasket if you have to make up for a heavily milled head

looking at summit i found only the .040 gaskets listed in various bores , no other sizes

looking at cometic site this morning (cometic.com) they too list only the .040 gasket in various bores ,

ive been running the .060s that i get through jack cotton , he still lists the .060 gaskets on his site
