So here I am, Friday evening halfway through my first head gasket repair- vacuuming out some light debris that fell into the valley. All of a sudden, THUMP. I suck up a lifter.
I proceed to remove the bag and dig the lifter out, which is covered in dirt/dust. I pop the keeper out and disassemble and clean. My question is, can I just reassemble the old part -cleaned and oiled- of course, or should I buy a new one?
PS.- the engine is running a stock cam, slightly ported heads, stock rockers, and 980 springs.
