For sale is a fairly fresh 84 block based 3.8 longblock with 87 heads (8445's, stock not ported). The rebuild was done by a NAPA auto parts about 10 years ago per the previous owner of this motor. It was 0 miles fresh when I bought it last year. I fired it up for the first time back in July of 2012 and have put about maybe 1000 miles on it. It runs really good, has good compression numbers (all cylinders are 150-160 psi), doesn't smoke, doesn't leak oil, no knocking, etc. Here is a list of the specifics:
- 84 GN block with 14 bolt oil pan
- stock 86-87 8445 heads unported, I think the headgaskets are Cometics because they are the steel shimmed style
- stock replacement type cam with all new stock replacement valve train parts
- stock rebuild with stock internals including crank (I believe it was just polished), rods, pistons, etc.
- oil drain has been tapped into the side of the oil pan for the turbo since the 84 block does not have a drain tapped in it
