I know there have been a few threads on this, but has anyone done back to back testing yet on this? I've seen a before and after flow test, but no track runs yet. I am looking to get this mod done soon and wanted to see if anyone had good results or not.

Sorry, no results or tests...but i can tell you that it is a very nice piece. I have a JJ 65mm on my car....it looks so nice inside....i almost didn't want to put it on the car:D

Hi Lethal,

There has been much debate about the "need" and corresponding "results" with this mod. Most will tell you that you don't "need" a modded TB as there are many who have gone 10s and even 9s with a stock TB. But, these same fast cars have done many of the other mods that I do while I'm in there i.e. bellmouth the TB, match the upper plenum, etc. I really haven't had anyone (myself included!) give me back to back apples to apples data. Most common feedback I get is of quicker throttle response and faster spoolup. It would also depend on the individual car's combo, and how much airflow it is capable of. All I can honestly tell you is that there are some seriously ugly steps and mismatches in the TB/upper and I do a lot to improve both the quantity and quality of airflow. FWIW, I did all three of my cars when they were still in the 13s!

Thanks,

Yeah, I've looked down my T.B. more than once. It looks mighty restrictive down there. It looks like my t.b. doesn't open all the way either. I also see the terrible alignment of the t.b. and upper plenum...not even close. I'll be talking to my guy on Tuesday about prices of what we are going to do to the engine. I should be able to let you know something by Wednesday. It seems it is about time i get these kinds of mods done to my car. Thanks for your time.

BTW... 86underboost.... I've seen the finished product too and you are right... If i get it I may have to put it on my wall for a little while.:D

No Downsides.........

Lethal,

I can attest to what Jay is saying. I have one of his 65mm mods. At the very least, he is cleaning up the OEM factory mismatches between the TB and the Doghouse and other air blocks/steps like the entrance to the TB.

Believe me, for what Jay charges to do this, you cannot beat it!!! If you try and do things yourself without the proper machine tools, you risk getting things out-of-round, etc. If you don't have access to a machine shop or tools and pay for someone else to do this, it will most likely cost you a lot more.

With my VERY stock, low 13 sec car, I picked up about 0.8mph from this mod and have seen ABSOLUTELY NO downsides to this conversion. I would imagine that on a faster car you may see more benefit in mph. I also noticed that my intake "sound" when I "get on it" changed. It is now much more "linear" sounding, if that makes sense.

The five BEST mods that I ever did to the car are a CHIP, FUEL PUMP, CAT-GUT, I/C NECK GUTTING and Jay's TB/DOGHOUSE Mod. With just these five things, I am making 107mph on a street chip with stock injectors and downpipe, etc. With some more traction than my BFG TA's afford me (2.2 - 2.3 60fts), that would be probably 108-109 mph and in the LOW 12's.

Anyway, you just cannot go wrong with this mod!!!!!!
