Took the car on a 100 mile trip yesterday. Mostly highway. Didn't really get into much boot at all but on the way home cruising down the highway, the low alky light came on. The weather was in the 40's and very cold air mass. At first glance I didn't notice any alky leaking anywhere. It was cold so I kinda looked around and just put the car away for now that it's done for the winter months. I know the tank was full or very close to it.

I have the old style pump maybe 4 years old now that I'm going to send back for a new one over the winter months, but where the hell did all the alky go! Just wondering if something might have cracked from the cold and leaked. It was low to mid 40's but the air was really cold going down the road. The pump is mounted behind the headlight bezel where most guys mount them. Might be a few weeks before I can move the car to my other garage to fill the tank up again and look around but I figured I'd ask.

Jim,
Typically sounds like your problem is a leak. Typically it's the pump if anything. So when you send the pump if I don't find it leaking then you need to look elsewhere for the issue.
I've seen older hoses leak, tank leaks, and pump leaks. Just need to find which one

I can't believe these pumps don't last 50 years what kinda stuff are you selling! shesh! lol Thanks for posting Don! I just thought it was strange all of a sudden. That Alky system has been a rock all these years! Must have been something with the cold. I typically don't go thru one tank of alky over the summer so it might have even had some condensation in there and with the cold weather didn't help. The front of that car had to be freezing going down the highway yesterday!

I'm going to pull the front bumper off the car over the winter and replace the front fillers and do a aluminum bumper support as well. So when I get it off the car I'll send it down for a fresh one with one of those sexy condoms on it! :D

4 years! Man I thought I was lucky when mine was on for three! I had a line rub thorugh on the core support. Check there. My pump was leaking from the plastic head on the pump right around the square with the four screws. I ordered a new one earlier this year. Too bad a tow hook caught the feed line and destroyed the new pump...:frown:

, johnys was leaking on the trailer the other day on the trailer , was fine for his trip down to MD
its the cold Jim fill it up and check and see if it holds

the plastic shrinks! usually just need to warm it back up and the pump holds again , mine did that a few years ago at the atco fall event well really winter as i was the third reschedule due to snow and it decembe , pumpwas leaking and with test button sprayed like a sprinkler on the trailer while waiting at the gate in the cold AM , once it warmed that day above freezing it was fine

Thanks Pauly! :) I figured that's what happened. I want to have Don go over it and upgrade the pump anyways but I've had it out in the cold before and it never happened. Then again I think that was the furthest on the highway I've gone with the car when it's that cold!

I've been 5 on mine and it flows better then the brand new one I bought for the GN. Julio makes good products and backs them up!
