The Cutlass took home 6K. I don't know of many street racers that take home that kind of $$. Discovery Ch must be making a mint!

Hey Dave, remember Fenders on nwhwy? Then rolling over to manana for the races? Then they started going to the Quaker plant over in your neck of the woods. Then again up the road on the service road between plano road and the next exit. That was nuts.

On yeah I miss Fenders (now PaPa's BBQ) those were the days. I use to go down to Manana (Men-yawn-Na) with my roommate he had a red 68 Impala with a 427 BBC with a 671 blower man I some fun in that car. There and many other places. Did you ever go to White Swan or Bruton Bottoms? Cruise Forest lane?

There is still a lot of street racing going on near Plano rd., Jupiter rd and Forest lane back towards Garland.

White swan, yes. Saw my first spectator death at manana, second at Plano road. Saw two bikes take on a built GN up nwhwy by the lodge. One bike lost it and went over the side down into the gully. Ended up in the front window of a cutlass making the uturn underneath.

On a side note

I would love to get my car to hook on the street like that cutlass does

Back when I was cruising Manana the GN's were not thought of yet.

David, you just haven't been exposed to real street racing like this before. I remember being at Denton in the early 2000s and seeing some match races for easily $1000 plus.. that was over a decade ago.

as I understand it, the pimp juice works pretty good.. tires wear fast though as they are melting into the concrete.

I agree. Even with all the exaggerated drama, much of which is probably staged (it's a tv show after all), anything that involves cool cars and racing is entertaining to me. They should however ease up on the whole "hiding from the cops" stuff cuz they ain't fooling anyone with that story line
