I have a 325-4L from a 85 buick riviera and I wonder how much power it can take without failing in a 2300 pound car. Also I would like to get it to shift much more firmly.
I have heard that it is similar to a 200-4R, is this true.

Thanks in advance for your reply

you can use most of the 2004r mods on the 325 4l and it is very durable .in a 2300 lb car you shouldnt have worrys with moderate to hi hp levels.one thing i dont like is the helix screwing of the planetary gears and at hi hp levels you should use 3254l planets in the 2004r and 2004r planets in the 3254l.if you study thrust washer wear patterns this will become apparent .www.ckperformance.com

no but you can always weld the spider gears to the carrier making a poor mans positraction

How hard is it to change the planetary gears. I've got to rebuild my trans since reverse is shot and might as well upgrade it while I've got it taken apart. One of my buddies has a 200-4R that he is going to put in his car and he would be willing to trade planetary gears with me. Is this a wise thing to do.

The link below is to a site describing the buildup of our (my bro and I) Geo Metro.

it sure is a wise idea .and all you do is replace one set with the other.if you need to firm up the shifts ,give a call we will tell you how to raise line pressure and shift rpm.www.ckperformance.com
