Does anybody know if it is possible to replace the gear on the end of the camshaft that drives the cam sensor? My oil pump gear froze and destroyed the teeth on the cam sensor and also the cam. I did'nt see any obvious way to remove it. Thanks in advance

That gear is cast into the cam itself, you'll have to replace the whole camshaft.

Thats what I was afraid of. What type of cam should I go with? Since I am going to be into the motor anyway, should'nt I go with an upgrade? What else should I replace while I'm there? Please keep in mind that I am on a serious budget. I noticed there is a cam and lifter set in the Parts for sale section. Would this be a good selection for my mostly stock combo? Sorry for all the questions, I am relatively new to the world of turbo Buicks.

if you want budget then you can go with speedpro cams they work real good.

the one i have in my hotair motor acted completly stock but more power when foot was applied.

i get my motor parts from northern auto parts ...1-800-831-0884
they have really good prices.

the cam in my hotair motor is part # cs1112r and lifters #t969

i went down to 13:0's with this cam at almost 105 mph

keep in mind the stock turbo was choking it at this point.

CLEANOUT THE OIL PAN!!!!!!!!!! oh sorry, cleanout the oilpan.

The Lunati 200-200 is a very good choice for a stock motor. I definately wouldn't go any bigger than a Comp 206-206. Both are around $100 + lifters.

Is is possible to remove the oil pan with the engine still in the car? It looks like a pretty tight fit. I am planning to replace the cam and lifters, the waterpump, timing set, and also the oil pump. Is it a good idea to replace the pushrods and valve springs while I'm there? What about head gaskets? I have had this car about two years. It was really abused before I got it. The motor is tired and I am trying to prolong rebuilding it until the summer when my money gets a little better.

ok the best was 104.9 mph...;)

i dont know guess i just never put good tires on it and boosted it good out the gate to get the et to match.

think thats bad look at what it ran now 11:60@121.54 now thats alot of mph for et.

but i'll give it hell when the track opens and try to match them up alil better.....come on 10's....:)

crazy gn on here seen me at the track with the hotair motor when i went a 13:10@104 but hes not been on here alot lately due to problems

im going for 125 mph this summer if the 3.8 wont do it a 4.1 should ...

really guys these speedpro cams work real good .
you dont have to run em but im letting you know they work fine and are alot cheaper than old tech comp cams
