Ok fellas just humor me here. Sometime in the WAY WAY future, I would like to attempt this. But being that it crossed my mind, I just wanted to post it. I know the Delorean is a Rear Engine, Rear Drive car. So that could become a problem. Just wanted to know if anyone thinks I should or shouldn't consider it. Like I said it would be WAY into the future, like 10 years from now. Thanks!

Scott

I don't know about the Delorean, but there was a Fiero around Philly a few years back that was running a TR engine. Rear engine and rear drive also, so it has been done.

There was an article a long time ago in some magazine, don't
remember which, about a Delorean with a hot air Buick turbo.
At least 13 years ago.

I've always wanted to do this too. I know of one on the web with a blown 4.3 chevy V6, also one with a N/A 4.3. Do a search on Yahoo for Delorean engine swaps. There seem to be quite a few backyard innovaters offering parts to make swaps work. I think it would be cool, a light, mid-engined car with cool doors that whistles.

In the late 80's eary 90's Richard Lee and Ken Dutweiler did a project for a doctor and they did this conversion. It might have been a twin turbo setup anyway Richard fabricated the plate that joined the engine to the trans and put together the headers. If my memory serves me correctly I think the tranny had issues with the torque and horsepower. Art Carr was also part of this project. Call Richard for the conversion information 909-674-8171. You might ask for the doctors number and negotiate for the whole car!(The guy has too many toys)

Hey Doc!

There is a guy up here in NH currently who has built a DMC with a
Norstar outback for GO GO & honda motor up front for gas milage.
Some crazy dude!

I will try to dig up the link. My friend bought the original motor from the dude.

it has been done..

i'm friends with several DMC owners and am also a member of the DeLorean Mailing List.

Check over at Yahoo Groups: groups.yahoo.com and look for the DMC News Group.

People have swapped in the Northstar motors, Chevy 350's, Ford v8's, newer Renault v8's, Prowler v-6's...and also a GN motor.

I'm also good aquaintences with a guy who owns a original Legend twin-turbo DMC. Its very old technology, that Keith and I might be working on ;)

We're already getting ready to make all-stainless exhausts for these cars.. just something fun and different.

The trannies in the DMC's are pretty strong, but some of the DMC owners have also swapped in Porsche trans-axles for a more beefy setup.

.. food for thought.

i always like those cars but they are so limp wristed with their stock engine. i'm sure a gn motor can ne shoe horned in there. i'd personally put a 3800 sc motor.

Hey Roger... I would like to check out that MGB on ESP's site... but I can't find it?!
