can I substitute one for another?
I have alcohol and propane with 50 msd injectors and want to know is it possible to substitute one for another ?

Or should I start looking into a larger injector set?

my setup is
50 msd,trans plus extender,alcohol w/ 2 stage turn on 14 then 18 lbs, propane turns on after 18lbs.

Ive got 0 knock on tlink presently with my pt52 and will be moving up to a te63 with a q trim and 4 inch housing.

thanks in advance
Alan

The 50's are plenty of injector for a 52 or even a 63 Q. Especially with all the stuff your pumping in.

The problem with your post is there is no direction. I mean.. What does this car run? How much power does it make? How do you know your out of injector? Why are you using two systems alcohol+propane? how much is each one contributing? Why the complication? Why the turbo swap? What is the goal?

I run approx 45 lbs per hour fuel at 130 MPH in the 1/4 .. I pump in a lot of alcohol. I could replicate my numbers with 50's.

Just depends......

If all you're interested in is going a 1/4 mile at a time, then ya, you can tune to get away with 50s.

The trouble is about the time you start running quick enough to make some real HP you start lightening things up, or increasing the air flow thur the engine. When you start doing those things, then you should be addind some AE (accleration enrichment) to keep the motor out of tip-in preignition, and trace detonation, during AE. You while you might say a few bucks intially, in the long run you might pay for the injectors with other problems.

IMO, the 60 PPH injectors really are a *sweet* size for a street car. They give you all the AE you need, and are easy to manage. Plus Eric, and Bailey are working on alky friendly chips.

A 13 second car doesnt need 60's. A 10 second car.. different story.. Lack of data leads to questionable advice..

I dont disagree on the 60's.. I only disagree changing good parts that should get the job done for a new set of variables ;) And Ditto on the chip burners recommended

Well i am goin down to 55's the 83's are in the low 40% duty cycle. I flowed the injector it was fine. It looks like the spark plug just broke randomly

AE is AE, look at the number of blown headgaskets, the TR community has gone though. Preignition, detonation, marginal injector sizing, due take their toll.

Does a 13 sec need 60's?. In the short term, no. But, how many 13 sec cars are running an alkycontrol?. Get into the 12s, and then the issue takes a different twist. Low 11s, the more so, and then like you mentioned by the 10s for sure.

Having enough, or slightly excessive, IMO, is just like having a good ignition system, there's reliability, and longer engine life to be had, when tuned properly.

Not to mention that if there is a alky problem, the more your relying on alky then gas, the more instantaneous the failure might be. Racing is one thing, the street is another.

the goal for my car is the ultimate grocery getter with a hopes in making to the 1320.cant remember the last time.
Honestly Im just going according to the #s in regards to whats needed with what on gnttype with the 50's and the turbo sizing, and was waitn on everything to come together before I drop her off for some professional tuning.Just minor tinkering on this side with my tlink.

I appreciate the posts I wish I have 1/4 the knowledge of you guys in the tuning area then Id prob be on the straight path.....

bottom line Im enjoying it one day at a time with these turbobuicks.
