Surge when shifting outta park

Ok, for a while now my car has been having some kinda 'surge' where when i put it in reverse or drive, it will suddenly drop rpms and die. Starts back up fine and is fine after that....

Bad throttle position sensor?

Bad idle-air controller valve?

It doesn't happen all the time and I don't drive the car too often, but spring is around the corner and I wanna get this fixed

Sounds to me like idle air control. Ever try resetting the idle ? You could maybe take it out and spray it up with carb cleaner, and then reset it.

I know what you mean about a surge, but to me its because the idles havent dropped all the way down so when you put it in drive it surges as it comes down to idle speed in drive and the TCC engages.
