Currently the turbo has a .82 housing on it, i dont want such horrible lag and will be going down to a .63 housing that i just so happen to have from a te-60, the current turbo is a turbonetics stage 2 turbo with the larger exhaust shaft. Will there be any problems with doing this, as of now it is on the turbo, but the turbo is not on the car, and there is zero shaft movement in any direction, and there is no rubbing of the wheel to the housing. let me know the deal.

thanks guys

It really depends on what turbine wheel the Stage 2 turbo has on it right now, because the TE-60 typically comes with a T31 Stage 3 turbine wheel. Each wheel is specifically cut to the inducer and exducer dimensions of the turbine wheel. If you install a housing that was on a turbo that had a larger turbine wheel, the clearance between the wheel and the contour of the housing could be too much. In this example, this would create un-wanted turbo lag. If your Stage 2 turbo used a T31 Stage 3 turbine wheel, then I would try it, but make sure after you install it that you check the side to side play of the wheel while slowly rotating the assembly, making sure that it does not rub the newly installed housing. If it doesn't rub by hand spinning it, then I would install the turbo and run it, but keep an eye and ear on it. Popping the downpipe off and inspecting the wheel after a few hundred miles. If after 500 miles and no signs of rubbing or damage, then you should be good to go. If memory serves me correctly, it should work ok, but I would keep an eye on it.
Hope this helps.
