Almost 2x the price of Mobil1. Unless I find someone seriously discounting that stuff, I think that I will stick to Mobil1, with oil & filter change every 3K miles, or there abouts.

Gary,

The interval changes is the difference (NOT 3,000 MILES). I copied the following from the site. If you've got strictly a racer then the OWNER sets the recommended intervals. Like I said, I started out with my pick up and I'm using the 25,000 mile oil (This oil is made for our turbo cars also).

This is what they say about their RACING OIL.
Turbo-charged, non-race gasoline engines: drain oil at intervals up to three times longer than those recommended by the engine manufacturer, or six months, whichever comes first.

Race engines: Specified by Owner Experience/Oil Analysis.

25,000 MILES !

My brother in law used Amsoil in his new Honda he thought you never had to change it. Once a year he changed the filter and added a quart of amsoil. At 86,000 miles he wiped the bottom end out.I was surprised it lasted that long.

ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!!

That's going to provide nice clean oil on a regular basis before it loads up with the corrosive byproducts of combustion and other wear-causing particulates.

Randy,

So your brother in law ordered the remote oil filtration kit? I was looking at that, but decided to try the 25,000 mile oil and filter first.

My brother recently sold a buick with 230+++ miles on it. It still runs.

For the first 80+++ miles, he used dino oil at 5k oil change interval. He worked for Halliburton, and saw what they did for their big rigs....oils samples and all that.

After 80+++ miles, he changed to Mobil 1. He changed the filter every 10+++ miles and topped off the oil. Still running with 230,000 miles

Can't argure with that. Of course, I won't try it either :)

P.S. For you young upstarts, a long time ago Mobil 1 was advertising extremely long oil change intervals too ;) It has to do with how long the anti-wear and polymer helixes that change viscosity with temperature last....If they are gone, you're not doing yourself any favors.

Just out of my curiousity, have you ever tried mobil1?
Maybe it would be interesting to do a poll on this.
Let's see here;
1. Mobil 1 and a new filter every 3k miles
or
2. Amsoil and a new filter every how many miles? 25K miles you say.
Don't poll that or you will get laughed out of town, I suspect.

Just kidding, but seriously, Virtually all of the high dollar auto manufacturers reccomend/require Mobil1.
Recommended/required for all new vettes, and maybe all GM.
Recommended/required as a minimum for all new BMWS, but I think that they would like for you to buy their own brand oil at about $ 16 a quart, I believe.
General motors (what do they know) has such a strong conviction regarding it that they have extended their minimum time/mileage intervals for maintainance when Mobil1 is used.
So, Amsoil might be better, at 2x the price, and you are going to trust it for how many miles?
I have run Mobil1 since about '86 through a Guldstrand/Traco '86 Grans Sport 80, and 5 turbro regals, and its also run in my new, or almost new Z06. I have never had a problem that I can attribute to oil. I have also never lost a turbo, either, out of 5 turbo cars. Sorry for the long post.

Uh no I think that's why he toasted the motor. He once a year put on a crappy Fram filter. This car should have went 200k if he would have changed the oil every 6k or so.
