I cant get the t link to work right , it will come up with the info fine but then starts to jump around on every thing. The o2's will go from 780 to like 0 and it keeps doing it over and over , all the info does this. Do you think it could be the cable,

Everything jumps or just the O2's? The O2's are supposed to move around...

every thing on there jumps around ,It seems be be ok for a few mins then starts to go crazy.

A couple things to check ... first what version of software is this?

  1. Are you using an inverter? If so, try using just battery or plugging the laptop into the wall. I've seen cheap inverters cause all sorts of havoc with the laptop communications ports.
  2. Be sure that the grounds on the back of the passenger side head are clean and tight. Bad grounds cause signal levels to "float".
  3. If this is v2, then make sure the parallel port is set up for EPP or bi-directional (and NOT ECP)
    [/list=1]

I do use the batt and i will check the ground out good, as for the set up i will check and see what its on. this is the v2 also , thanks for the help

where can i find the parallel port set up, to make sure its not on ecp.

thanks bud:)

It's in the BIOS setup for the machine.

Unfortunately, they are all different...

On the Thinkpads, you hit either F1 or ESC or some other key sequence when you power it on and it goes to their "EZ Setup" BIOS thing.

On Compaqs, you usually hit F10 when they are booting.

On Toshibas, you usually have a SETUP.EXE in the DOS directory or a Windows program.

the unit is a toshibas, but i cant seem to find this stuff, i had my dad try and when he looked in the set up it keeps saying he needs the setup disk that we dont have.

is there any thing else we can try or am i just way off [ iam sure i am because i diont really know what i am doing with it.

thanks for any help:)

Those older computers are a real pain to find the stuff that works for it.

You might try Toshiba's web site ... sometimes they archive old utilities and such for discontinued machines.

i cant find any thing because i dont really know what iam looking for. might just sell it and give the lab top back to my dad, maybe i can find one that does not need a lap top.

thanks bud

I'd be happy to hook it up on the test bench and confirm that it isn't the cable. If it is in the cable, I'll fix it up for you, since it should be something pretty simple if it is working most of the time ... maybe something intermittent or heating up.

Just send it to:

Accelerate Performance Products
3702 Automation Way
Suite 101
Fort Collins, CO 80526

and throw a few bucks in for return shipping. If it's in the cable I'll get it fixed up.

ok sounds great, i'll let ya know when it is mailed to you.

thanks
kevin
