Ken,

I HATE that d*mned windows installer! I delete all the sample runs from my saved runs directory, and the next time I try to run Turbolink, installer "repairs" my corrupted installation! What's up with that? I do not want these runs in my folder! AT ALL! I guess you can tell this is not my first "experience" with this MS piece of cr*p! Sorry for the rant  would you happen to know if this is fixable?

One more: how do you get into the ALDL mode on ver 4.04?

Thanks!

Yeah... the MS installer is a real piece of work. We're going to switch over to Installshield, but with the new company we have to get all the legal stuff in place first (licensing and such).

The dumb thing thinks the data files are part of the original install, so it "helps" you by reinstalling them if they are missing. *DOH*

We've attempted to fix that with the latest install (it's on the web site in the upgrades directory), but the installer seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes. Give that a shot?

As far as ALDL mode, we've disabled it for the 86/87 cars ... it was causing too much confusion (and some folks were thinking they HAD to use it during racing ... resulting in excessively retarded timing). After a dozen support calls, we just turned it off for the 86-87 cars.

Ken, you're a saint for putting up with me! I looked around on the site, but couldn't find anything newer than "VehiclePak 7" which I am currently running. No sweat, I'll wait for further news on the new Installshield proggy...

Look a little closer ... the complete install is:

TL4_VehPak_7_FULL.msi

You have to start from scratch (unfortunately) ... this installer is the V2 Windows Installer, and we tried to get it NOT to register the data files as "necessary". Do a complete REMOVE of everything TurboLink and then run the new full installer.

I hope it fixes the problem, but as much as we've struggled with the MS thing, I can't wait for the Installshield! Does that do the trick?

Ken, that works if you designate a folder other than "data" for your runs. If you delete the sample runs from the "data" folder, the installer rebuilds them. I made my storage folder "My Runs", left the "data" folder alone, and all is well.

Thanks!
