How many people are running these heads? Im looking at getting a set for my dads car.

We are looking at the SI head. 194 on the intake and 160 on the exhuast. Probably going to run stock rockers on them for right now. Talk to Mike @TA today and his knowledge on these are very good. He pretty much sold me over the phone. Im leaning towards these over the champion aluminum.

Any gains over a set of ported irons?

Thanks in advance

Can't say much about the SI's but I have the SE Heads with TA 1.75 rockers.
My heads flowed 280 after Zimmerman worked his magic on them. I can say that these heads on my mostly street driven car are down right scary with my combo. HTH

I have a set that has never been used. I can get details if you want them. They are on a Stage II block at DLS I have. I will not be using them so... They are ported and all....

Depends on what his setup is. What turbo is he going to run? Is it a street car or a track car? TA stock style heads have run mid to low 8's in the quater already. Your going to need a big turbo to fill the intake and heads with to fully see their potential. I personally would stick your stock style heads whether they be the new GN1's aluminums or TA's aluminums. No fab work wuld be needed for those heads. StageII stuff needs some modifying for throttle brackets etc. But thats just my opinion.

Im definitly staying with a stock style head. The car is mostly street driven. We do like to run it at the track. 3 or 4 times a year.

Combo is 109 with .030 JE's stock crank and rods, RJC girdle with scraper. Turbonectics BB 66 S trim. 218/218 Hydrualic flat tappet, 72's, Double pumper, Art car 9" N/L 3400 and so on.

We've been 10.90's with this combo, but the car will not MPH @27psi it's only going 123.50mph. I think it's floating to valves or the heads have a bad valve job. Im going to pull the heads and send them to Mike @ TA to see if he see's anything wrong with them.

The tune on the car is good. We are running WB 02 and it's 11.2 going through the traps.

Chris. you might want to look at your conv. slip. My art\carr is blowing through! Later, Bob.

...........Probably going to run stock rockers on them for right now. .............

Unless you have some way to space the rockers apart, do not plan to use stock rockers.

Common sense tells you the larger valves on alum heads are spread apart much further than stock. The pushrod geometry will be way off, not to mention that the pushrods will not clear properly in the holes.

The best ported irons cannot compare to alum heads, as you said the valves are much larger as are the ports.:)

Nick,
Thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind if I order these heads.

Bob,
Can you please give me the formula to calculate convertor slippage?

Thanks

Very interested in results of this thread......I have kinda the same combo as you Chris, but with the new PTC N/L converter the rpm through the traps was about 5600 or so at 129mph, rich tune stock (hogged out by me) heads.

When are we gonna see some of the major players in TSM (9.60's & quicker) put the TA heads to the test?

K.
