I just got myself an intercooled Ta49 and wanted to take advantage of the larger compressor housing. Immediately after reclocking the turbo I now recognized the problem with installing the turbo. Besides the compressor housing being too long the turbo is also somewhat offset from the centerline of the adapter. So with that said even if one was to cut the housing and weld the turbo outlet bell on to the housing, you still would have to deal with the centering problem. Thats probably is the backing plate adapter that John Craig spoke of. But if there's a will there's a way and I'l somehow make it work. I know a few of you here on the board have fabricated your own designs but the details of your fabrications are not that clear. But I'm a Hot Air owner I'm used to overcoming obstacles. Anyway just the size of the turbo over the stock hotair turbo is massive and I'm sure there will be some benefits over the stock design just from the larger housing. I guess I will soon find out. I will keep you all updated on my progress.
