Just looking at all my options of putting in an after market tach. I am installing a 2 guage A piller that will hold my boost and knock gauge, the stereo pod area already has my alcohol injection unit on the side with the scanmaster sitting on top(both are velcroed). I would like my tach there but do not really relish the idea of drilling holes in the padded dash that currently has no holes. I am considering somehow mounting to the steering column or will consider any other suggestions. Any Ideas?
Thanks; Robert

I have a small VDO tach and boost gauge mounted in a dual pod on my steering column. The pod is made by forum member Rayk out of Florida and is very reasonably priced. You could easily make one yourself out of PVC but his is so affordable that it's not worth it. Anyway, it attaches with velcro to the top of the column. It blocks the gas gauge just a big, but not a big deal. I like this setup because it puts the gauges right where you want them without any cutting or drilling and without being obvious to thieves. I have photos on my site under "buildup gallery".

I made a custom mount from parts used to hang rearview mirrors and mounted mine to the windshield. Easy to remove if needed. You can see pics from inside on my site in Sig.

I did that and can vouch for the fact it works great. I made a quick disconnect harness so I don't have to run it when I don't wan't it to be seen. ;)

Thanks Joe, the only thing I'm wanted to be sure about is that it looks like you still mount to the dash but you use rearview mirror mounting hardware.

I may be a little biased:) , but check out the tach mount at my web site under "new products.

Hey Nick:
What type (model No) of tach is that in the picture?

It looks like it is mounted in the lighter socket???

It is mounted where the cig lighter goes. We remove the lighter and run the wire to a power socket attached to the side of the console. The mount is bolted in to the metal framework of the dash which is very strong, no vibration of the tach. Upon removal of tach and wiring, all is back to stock with no holes or mars on dash or surround.

Tach is an Autometer 0-8000 unit, not sure of the model no?

They sell for $39.95.

An older picture but here's where mine is mounted
tach mount

It's now mounted to the full dual pod pillar.
Only need to look at one place for the tach, boost, knock guage.:)

Hey Nick Micale, I do like the mount on your website. I have never liked the idea of putting a hole in perfectly good padded dash. Please advise how I can get more information, pricing and any other pertinent information.

Nice set-up!

I've got Nick's mount and I love it! At night I can unplug the light and nobody knows  . Really cleaned up the interior too.
