Anyone here know about BMWs? I posted a thread about this car a while ago, asking if we should sell it or junk it! But right now we need to keep it on the road until we have some money, one major problem to take care of - possessed lighting system.
First the hazard lights were turning on on their own. Then it stopped doing that. Recently, sometimes the car will have tail lights, sometimes it won't. Sometimes the burnt bulb indicator on the dash will be lit up, sometimes it won't. Most of the time it has headlights, brake lights, license plate lights, but no tail lights.
With my own research, I've found that the Light Control Module is a common problem. A big mental red flag went up when I was reading the article and it mentioned hazard lights turning on spontaneously. BUT there is a seperate "check module" that checks for burnt out bulbs and is in charge of lighting up the indicator on the dash. Since her indicator is lit up randomly, I suspect that part as well. Aaaand lastly I also read there is a yellow colored relay under the hood that can also relate to light problems.
Rather than throw 3 parts at it, I was hoping I'd come across someone who knows about this. I registered at a BMW forum but haven't gotten any responses so far.
