take a guess at this problem

got a 88 cutlass here

basically a left over 87

had a 307 olds and 2004r

put a real mild 350 chebby motor in it and drove it last night

riding thru the neiborhood just checking things out and everything seemed fine so I rolled into the secondaries on the ol q-jet and tranny downshifted and it started moving on then it kinda free reved

now if I take it outta park you can feel it drop in the gear but acts like it has about a 6000 stall converter in it

all gears act the same ..the car will move if reved hard enough (thats how I got it back home)

sound like converter? direct clutches? stator?

didnt here no noise

Not being a smartaleck but low fluid will act like that too...did you check that?

Stripped stator support, maybe they were just hanging on & well you know the power of a Chevy.

lol...yeah I checked that

I'm kinda hopeing stator or converter

I didnt pull the converter off when the motor was out ...guess I should have ...then I'd had seen if the stator was trashed

Converter did that one time to me. Had to give it full throttle to get it moving. I did make it back though.
