TCC wiring at trans plug???

I searched several times and came up with nothing.

I need a schematic or diagram... or simple explanation.... of the 4 wires that plug in to the side of the trans.

I'm trying to nail down why my TCC won't lock... and just want to manually bypass EVERYTHING with a toggle switch.

I've got:

purple

blue

green/white

brown/black

Nevermind.

I found that there was NO TCC switch at all under the dash.

I hunted around and found the wires & plug tucked behind the fusebox.

Jumpered pink to purple and I hear a clicking sound coming from the trans now... but still no lockup while testing on the jackstands...

How are you testing it on jackstands????

You do realize that no matter what you rig up, the TCC WILL NOT lock untill you're moving and in at least 2nd gear.

65 mph in OD on the jackstands is pretty easy.

It apparently needs to sense a load to operate too... because on the highway the TCC works fine... and there's no "doubt" when the 5-disc Vigilante locks up. It's pretty firm and obvious.

What I find odd is... it will lock up @ 55 or so all by itself, without me grounding the two ALDL wires... and the chip is programmed to keep the TCC off. I have no brake switch under the dash, so I just jumpered the two (pink & purple) wires together, hoping to switch the converter on/off manually with the ALDL connections.

Most of the newer chips have the cruise tcc adjustable/programable. I'd bet yours does. Or, it's set at 55 in the chip. Has to be in the chip or it wouldn't be locking on its own.

Most chips keep the part throttle lockup and unlock at wot, like the stock setup, and some (race) chips may lock at wot as an option but even those also keep the part throttle lockup.

Oh, OK... then it's working as it's supposed to.

As long as it won't lock at WOT I'll leave it as-is.
It was kind of nice to run down the highway and see the tach at only 1500rpm.

It's also possible the solenoid had been stuck, since it's never been engaged the whole time I've had the car (since Feb). Maybe it just took a few miles of driving to free it up and start working again.

It wouldn't have shown on PL when you flip the switch. The switch is an external source. The check mark on PL only shows when the ECM is "commanding" lockup, not necessarilly that it actually is locking. That signal to PL is not coming from the the tranny but rather from the ECM.

I'm just happy to see it working.
