My convertor hasnt locked since I put everything back together. This morning, it locked in 2nd gear and was locking and unlocking until the car got hot.

Last year, there was a wire going from the TCC lockup wire to one of the brake switches under the dash. The guy I bought the car from cut the pinkish/red wire that goes from the ECM to the TCC plug in the trans, and ran a wire from the TCC plug red wire to the brake switch under the dash. It would lock at 45 MPH like it should, but then it would lock and unlock intermittently. I made a lockup switch so I could just keep it locked and not have the car shake when it was locking and unlocking.

So this year, since the motor and trans was out, I took that wire out that the guy put in, and put the wires back like they were supposed to be. Now, the convertor wont even lock when I flip my lock-up switch. I have 400 miles on the motor and trans and the convertor hasnt locked yet. This morning, when the car was cold, as soon as it shifted into 2nd gear the convertor locked. Once the car got hot it wouldnt lock anymore? What the hell is going on? Please help!!

You got a crossleak or leak when cold. Hrmm . That would indicate to me a wire or switch problem. Either way you had better figure out or you are going to invite even more problems. What is going on cannot be good for any of the parts involved.
What chip are you running just out of curiousity?

Bruce, thanks for the reply.

I am using an Extender chip. Today, I unplugged the TCC wires that go into the side of the trans, and the convertor STILL LOCKED! What the heck? It would lock and unlock and it was acting goofy. Did your mind change now? Should I not drive the car? Help! Thanks!

You got something odd going on. No, I would drive the car. This needs to be resolved. It is either a pump valve problem or solenoid is not exhausting oil. I would start at solenoid and see if it continues. Go under pan and disconnect tcc. Take it out and leave it lay in pan. See if it still does it. And when you pull it out poke up at tcc valve and see if it moves. If it is sticking that could be it right there.
