Is the TCI transbrake for the th350 a bolt in from the bottom deal, or do I need to pull the tranny to install some components?

Thanks,
Eric

You'll have to pull it Eric, you'll need to work on the direct drum. Now is the time to go to a 400 if you have not bought that brake yet.

Poop... Is there any way to make a th350 last? Its done well so far, although I don't have any 1.5 60' under my belt either. Is the 350 just not cost effective to modify? I remember you told me to get a 400 so I wouldn't ruin that pretty new converter when the 350 died;) .

Eric

I would go 400 too....

Dollar for dollar, the 400 will be twice as durable. To make the 350 half as durable, you take a bunch of trick machine work to get 400 parts into the 350. And it still isn't nearly as good as a 400 would be.

You probably need to remove the middle o-ring on the low/reverse piston and direct drum. I would put in all heavier direct release springs they probably come with the valvebody . I got a chevy 350 that we ran behind a 750 hp. 434 smallblock just a manual valvebody never had a problem 4 years low tens on motor 8.90s on spray . We upgraded to a powerglide lost a tenth and a lot of sleep never lasted more than 5 runs after 2500.dollars it held up . I never liked the fact that a 400 always broke the case at the intermeadiate snap ring broke the lugs off. I quess that was then . Laz

Uh, no, it's CONSIDERABLY more involved than that. The drum itself has to be modified. And my $800 PowerGlide lived for 2000 passes behind a 700 HP 468 in a 2900# car, and the PowerGlide was quicker than anything in it except for a Doug Nash 5 speed. And I've NEVER blown the lugs out of a 400 case. Not in mine, and not in over 450 customers transmissions.
