I have one that needs a freshening up
Talked to chopper at limit and was quoted around 500 bucks for the freshen up
shoot me a price...

When talking to Patrick this past spring, I found out that Precision never made a Te45a. That number is a Limit turbo. Precision made a T64E or TE64 which is a 66mm comp and 76 P-trim exh wheel, same as a 45a. Bison since made it a little more clear about swapping the exhaust wheels and getting better trap speeds then you can get with an off the shelf 45a. With a hpq exhaust wheel, he said you could trap in the 135mph range ( with the right combo). There is one guy on here, (Bobs rare 6) from Tenn, he runs a 45Q and said that on the freeway, at 60-65 mph, he can light the tires up easy. I have a new 45a for my stroker and wont make any mods to it until I get some back pressure readings to see if I need to a bigger housing or upgrade the exh wheel.

Just a little info.

whats the fastest a TE45a has been ? what is the precision turbo # ?

Dday went 10.07 at BG in THS this year.

Probably not even the fastest 45a out there, but damn fast.

By chance do you have a link to where this can be found, I'd like to have so reading....

Hey. Whats up Coach? I have had great luck with the 45a! Has worked great for over 8 1/2 years. 25# and pump gas and alky is a blast on the street! Have never had this turbo up in the boost range it would really shine at! Oh. and I am from the K.C. area.

I stated the Precision number. It is an old number. T64E or TE64, either one. As for how fast. I have seen several in the low 10's with the boost in the 26-28 range. Mike Schwab runs 10.40-10.50 with boost at 23-24.

Bisons info is in Bisons head. I have talked to him on the phone about my new engine a few times. He is picking the components for the combo. He is very very good at it. Tell him where you want to trap at, and he puts you right there. I am shooting for mid to low 10's. I am building a motor that with a 70 would run high to mid 9's, but I am only driving it on the street. I see the track a few times each summer. My car has no cage, so racing it is not an option.

Sorry about putting you in the wrong state, I really thought it was Tenn. You are right about the sweet spot, they say this turbo pulls like a freight train at 26lbs and up. One guy PM'd me a while back and said he has been 32lbs on the street and it is undriveable. As far as I am concerned, the 45a is the only "old school" turbo that still gets it props with the newer tech crowd. When you tell someone in the staging lanes you have a 45a, they know your no slouch. I cannot wait to get my new engine finished. If my daughter didnt start college this fall, it would be getting done as we speak. I am stepping up from the 49 to a Te62 for this summer. Bigger injectors and a Powerlogger. This set-up will keep me busy until the 249 is finished.

I've had a TE45a P trim since 2004. It's a nice turbo and likes lots of boost. I've only taken it to 27psi and trapped 127mph in the 1/4 with it. Hopefully can go faster with the new engine in 2011.

Interesting. I seem to recall posting here about 2 hours ago and it seemed to have vanished. Maybe i never hit submit. Oh well. Coach is right on. A 45a, t64E or t66 will make low 10 sec power. The GTQ versions will go 9's.

You did, I read it...hold I'll see if I can find it.

Edit - No luck

I said HPQ, I forgot it was GTQ. Thanks for backing up my info. I will tell you this, my friend KevinW25645 got a new Billet 6265e this past summer. He was running a Te62 and going low 11's with it. He swapped on the 6265e and with 22-23 lbs of boost and a super slow 60', he is at 10.89 and trapping at 128. I bet when he gets his 60' down where it should be and gets the boost to 25-26, he will be 10.30's or better. I can only imagine that the new 6365 or 6565 are really killer turbos. They have to be 9 sec units on a good combo. Kevin has DLS ported irons and a 210-215 roller, big slic, and 60# inj and runs ALKY.

Good to hear from you Bison. I need to pick your brain on a camshaft for my stroker. Ill be in touch.
