Anyone know any tech/ repair manuals for our cars besides Chilton's, Maybe more on the performance side of things. You guys are great but I'm still learning the basics so kinda want something I can just pick up and read.

I have the GM chassis manual and to be honest, it's not very good for a non-mechanic like myself. It's great for specs and the electrical section seems to be very good, but the engine mechanical section is sorely lacking. Just my two cents on one to stay away from.

Ys i know but as i said in my orginal post. I cant come on here and ask all the time. I need a book so if i need to know where something is i can grab the book look it up go out to my car and find it. I'm more of a hands on guy. I dont know any TB guys around my area. I'm just learnig how everything works. I'm not a ASE tech and wasnt brought up working on cars. Books would really help!

Go to Kirbans site and by all his guides they will help, but for the most tech info internet and this board will always be the best. They don't make tech books that I know of. Only one is CK's trans book.

And ASE has nothing to do with it,yes I am certified but plenty of people who are and can't fix or know nothing about cars :)

The Chassis manual is THE source. Yea it's complicated hard to read but everything you need to know is in there.

thanks will look into it, and FYI i was making a dig at you about the ASE thing. I just know a 1/4 of things about mechanics as everyone else on here does

GM service manuals are available on ebay. Buy them. No service manual is always 100% useful- alot of times they just say disassemble and then reassemble in revers order (not helpful) but alot of times there will be diagrams or other things mentioned that you may have not considered.
My preference is to come here and research and then use the books if I can't come back here... Nevertheless, they are invaluable.

Chiltons is trash; don't waste your money.
