Anyone? I heard there are ball bearing Ta-49's out there. Where do I get these at? I think they are custom. Anyone?

Why do you want a BB49? It would be expensive and you can spend the same on a newer turbo that will spool as good or better and make more power. Jack Cotton can make you one.

spool quicker than the smallest turbo around with ball bearings? how could a bigger wheel spool faster than a smaller wheel?

I just put a TA49 journal bearing on my car recently and i was amazed at the difference this made over a stock turbo. I think it would be cool to have a stock apearing BB TA49 !!! It would have to spool awsomely quick.

I'd think a BB49 would spool the tires off the car. At a certain point it's overkill. A journal bearing 49 is hardly a workout for a stock converter. Add bearings to it and I don't think you'd ever catch traction.

If the slightly bigger wheel had new wheel designs that are generations ahead of the TA49's wheel designs. And both sides of the turbo are now further along than the TA49 to help spool and power. The billet 60/62 might be our new TA49 in spool, but WAY more power.

Don't waste your $$, other mods help spool up if that's your interest.

I would get at least a 61BB. A 61BB will spool very good with a stock TC and make a little more power than a 49. My $.02

for me, it's all about the 60 foot, and the 1/8th mile. The quicker the spool, the better. top end is of no concern to me right now. in the end, I will have a 2600 10" lock up, a 4" intake tube, a 3" DP with dump, an aftermarket SLIC, and alky.
I just want that spool up.

Just so you know I just switched from an old school journal bearing 63 to a Tnetics 66BB with the latest wheels and they both 60ft about the same launching at the same boost levels. But around town the 66BB spools up a lot faster.
