Terrible quality control

I’m sorry, I’m not one to bash vendors or their work but I am absolutely getting sick and tired of ordering parts that are wrong, not up to par as stated and generally just piss poor quality.

Here is a steering box I bought from a vendor here. Notice the amazing paint job that peals off in sheet. It’s like they oiled the box and then painted it. This is for a restoration so now it’s got to come back off the nicely painted frame, stripped, primed and painted. Like it should have been the first time. But hey I got all the time in the world right ?

Truthfully the boxes were never painted from the factory. I would just leave it bare.

It’ll rust immediately. A little brake cleaner in the eye, primed and painted. All fixed

I wouldn't put that on the vendor. That's the way they get them. I bought one locally from Part Source and it came the same way. For most people it's ok, they just install and go. Mine was new, yet had surface rust on it too along with the shitty paint job. I glass beaded mine and painted it Satin black. Believe or not, power steering pumps and steering boxes come like this 90% of the time unless you buy a aftermarket upgraded version of it.

My point exactly. Tired of getting shit in the mail. Why even paint it if your going to do a terrible job? That kind of workmanship makes me question the internals of the unit itself. "Take a job big or small, do it right, or not at all"
