This is my first time rebuilding an automatic transmission
I have the trans apart with alot of patience.
ready for the rebuild
was wondering if anyone had any feedback on rebuilding this transmission. Any common mistakes to avoid, anything special to do that the repair manuals miss......etc?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Nope
Just The Ones You Find At Autopart Stores

You need CK's book. And probably a rebuild kit from him as well. There are a fair number of special tools you need to do the job right, too. It's all in The Book.

Jim

+1 on CK's book & parts!

Get the book first, read it and decide then and there before you take the trans appart if you are up to the task. The average guy with access to the right tools & a good place to work on it, should be able to rebuild it if they can follow instructions, double checking everything and lots of time and patience. If you don't have access to tools, especially 2004r trans specific stuff...you may want to spend a few extra dollars and get one from CK, Brian, etc. Good luck.

I offered to rebuild it for free labor to you, you just had to pay for hard parts....and most of them I probably have lying around, go figure, with over 200+ trans rebuilds for GN's under my belt, go figure, I guess nothing can be free in this life, You can't even give away knowledge and a good deed to the new era of Buick enthusiasts, it is quite a drastic change from the original crowd of the 90's. Times have sure changed in this community.....
