this product has been a long time coming.i had made 2 in the past and will now be producing them on a regular basis.i just tore down a unit that was given 1000 street miles and 100 plus brake launches on the street and we are satisfied with the results.this system uses factory line pressure controls via the modulator, automatic shifts in drive, fulll manual control when the driver selects it,custom calibrated valve body and governer, factory deep pan and filter.price is 499.00.i am going to find a company this week to produce the oil lines in quantity and we will be ready to go.

Glad to see progress on this, and the price drop also from your orginal quote. Will we need a mechaniacal modualtor, and what transpan will this require?

great..

chris...i am very interested...would like to talk with you so let me know when a good time to call regarding this is...

that to , and what gear can the transbrake be activated ? I already have a alum TCI deep pan .

activates in manual lo with a button and you must upshift it when you use the transmission brake.otherwise it acts like a normal th400 with a factory type shift pattern ie automatic shifts in drive.

How's the manual shift and transbrake release reaction times with your new setup?

release is just as good as our pro brake but this one uses the rear band anddirects instead of the rear band and the intermediate clutch.the rear band is left on just like in a standard 400 and this does kill about 5 horsepower just like in any 400 because of the load and cocking that the rear band puts on the reaction carrier.i thought about using governor oil to release the servo and the band after take off but this will knock out engine braking above 30 or 40 mphour, something we still want.when the brake is applied two 1/4" balls are seated and these balls have .040" bleeds next to them so the instant oil supply is cut the balls fall away aided by the adjacent bleed holes.

I've never seen the intermediates used on a transbrake 400, except for second gear of course. How does that work?

your in gear forward clutch on,apply the brake and turn on the rear band and intermediate clutch and your locked.its like being in second gear, front gearset is working only, and wrapping the band around the reaction carrier to lock the release of motion to the output shaft. its nice because you can also leave the band on in first with prnd oil so it is already on when putting on the intermediate clutch pack for instant brake apply . we use governor oil sent to the rear side of the servo to knock the band off in 1st by sending it to the release side of the rear servo so as the car starts moving the governor kicks off the band.i also have one that leaves it on till a 1/2 shift where it exhausts at the manual valve. release is faster than any other design because the intermediate piston comes off quicker than the direct can.also you can add 4 ball checks that dump oil after you exhaust brake oil.

DO i need a deep pan for this brake?

with the solenoid im using yes you will.the factory stock gm deep pan with filter, bolt ,sleeve and extension.solenoid bolts right to the valve body.im sure a different solenoid would work but ive already got one that works so im not going to start over.

Chris

what kind of power will these trannys hold up to? I'm in the market for a 400, and that price is nice :D what kind of internals is this built with? hardened parts etc.? and it is non lock up right? and what is the price with full manual valve body if you could make it that way? thanks...

this option can be added to any of our manual automatic 400s on the website for 350.00.just pick a trans and then add the option.

When will these be available? And can the average person install this? DO you sell mechanical modulators?

Chris said he was pretty ill when I spoke to him last week, so he may not be real active for a day or two.

 there really is no update.everything is going ahead as planned.i am still trying to find someone to make the lines.i have no time to drive around and shop for someone at the moment as im about 1 week behind in the garage after being sick for 5 working days.besides no one is going to be going racing in the next few days anyhow.i hope everyone understands that there are only 24 hours in a day.ill keep everyone up to date ,more than likely itll be ready within 2 weeks.
