I've been looking for used cars and one of the carfax reports I did on a car I'm considering came back saying this "Sold at auction
in Desert Southwest Region
Listed as
a manufacturer vehicle"
I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The car only has 32 miles on it and has a clean title. What does listed as a manufacturervechicle mean?

It typically means it was driven as an executive car. I know GM and I'm sure that other manufactures do this too, loan out car to executives within the company. I think they normally get them from 1-3 months and are suppose to test and review the car. They're then offered the chance to buy the car and if they don't GM sells the car to either someone else in the company or they auction it and dealerships can buy them. It seems like this car was only used for a couple days when it was returned or something else happened with it since it only has 32 miles. I wouldn't be worried about that it's just normally a place where dealerships pick up cheap slightly used cars.

Check it over well

Not trying to scare you off as this might be a good deal. I bought one once back in '91. Low miles and such but as we drove the car things started to become more clear why this was such a 'deal'.

Tha car I bought seemed to have been damaged. The front suspension was all reworked and the brake pads had the little 'squeek' tabs broken off. I ended up having to replace both rotors and calipers on the front as they were destroyed in about 12000 miles and without the squeek tabs by the time it started making noise it was at the backing plates and the GF at the time didn't say anything until much more major damage was done.

It ended up in a hail storm so I traded it in on a pickup.
Just my bad experiece, just check it over good before you lay down the money.

don't trust carfax!

bought a car that carfax said was title clear and no damage history,
turned out to be a salvage, with accidents, I had signed up for buy back, but carfax said "screw you"
so don't trust em !!!!!!!!!!
if you wan't true history, have insurance guy run it thru ins history link,
well maybe not in this case, but in used cars yes.
good luck

I don't trust Carfax as they said my 85 GN had been sold about 5 times since I owned it. I bought it in 97 and it never left my possession physically or otherwise until I sold it recently. They also said it had been wrecked a couple times while I owned it and that is NOT true either. Had a primered right side fender when I bought it and non of the other panels had been replaced.

Never, EVER trust carfax info. As you can see, thier info is pretty useless.

I'm the original owner of my 86, and when I look at the carfax on it, it states that there's possible odomoter fraud and setbacks.

Also shows smog inspections in places I never heard of, let alone lived.

Carfax=idiots
