Show them this chart:

And tell them they don't know WTF they are talking about.

The Reason We have to have "Low Sulfur Diesel" and couldn't buy a Diesel Car in The US for less than $40K in 2007 was that no Diesel built could meet the EPA's asinine new PM2.5 and PM10 Standards.

This Chart Shows that PM2.5 and PM10 have been dropping steadily since the 70's... way BEFORE the new standards went into effect.

The EPA is mandating Catalytic converters and Urea Injection for Diesels while the air is getting cleaner without them.

Next time you run leaded Race gas in your gutted cat T/R don't feel guilty about it. The Air is 2X cleaner than it was in the 1980's despite your attempts to "Destroy the Planet"

So if low sulfur diesel was introduced to meet epa standards, why are we still using it?

That price increase from 1.52 per gallon in 2002 up to 4.27 per gallon last fill up august 2008 is enough to make guys like me pull my hair out, less horsepower and worse fuel economy:mad:

I personally estimate lost horsepower around 10-15% and fuel economy down 3-4 mpg in my truck that i hardly drive anymore.

Wait until they mandate Cats and Urea injection for heavy duty Diesel pickups.

For the Children!!!!

The Epa keeps data like this very close, for obvious reasons. If the word got out that we were all raised with air that was 2 to 10X dirtier than todays kids (and contained 1000X more lead) the lame excuse that its "for the children" would only fly with the crunchiest of granola crunchers.

Good find dude!

Screw all those tree hugging hippies at the EPA. I do my best to contaminate the world around me every day of my life just to spite them :D

It makes me happy to see the TR community is not a bunch of tree hugging lemmings. I went from one liberal state to another and I just about had it with all this BS about running out of water, air, tree's, etc... This is the 60's of the 21st century so lets hope its over with sooner than later.

I have alky injection on my car but I like to not run it at the track and run C12 or C16 instead. My only worry is my wideband o2 getting fouled. I do not run a cat at all so I dont worry about that plus I love the smell of burned race gas.

This is on my GN,

I get a lot of attention from that sticker at the track. So much so I think Glenn Beck should give me some sort of kick back for all the people I have pointed his way to pick up a set of stickers for themselves.

that is without a doubt...........

The funniest sticker I have ever seen in my life:D
I have to put on on my GN also.
Thanks for the link:cool:

You might get more attention in California than I get up here in Oregon!

Air Pollution in the US is going down while the rates of Asthma are going up, therefore Pollution isn't causing the rates of asthma to go up.

Duh.

Insect droppings cause more Asthma in the US than automotive air pollution. Why doesn't the government mandate low sulfur roach droppings and cats and urea injection for roaches?

Because Roaches don't have any money, that's why.

From the CDC:

What causes it

In the United States, tobacco use is a key factor in the development and progression of COPD, but asthma, exposure to air pollutants in the home and workplace, genetic factors, and respiratory infections also play a role. In the developing world, indoor air quality is thought to play a larger role in the development and progression of COPD than it does in the United States.

Air pollutants IN the home and workplace.

Last time I checked my car was neither in my home or workplace.

Maybe that chart shows emissions regulations are working.

Yeah, emission regulations from the 70's are working so well that we DIDN'T need the absolutely stupid 1997 Regulations that took effect in 2007.

They Told us in 1997 that we HAD to have the 2007 PM standards because pollution was SO BAD!!!!! and people are DYING!!!!!

10 years after they told us this, PM emissions were 1/2 what they were BEFORE the regulations took effect and eliminated the cheap Diesel car from America and made Diesel fuel cost $1.00 More than regular gasoline.

FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!

Duh.

Anyone with COPD or asthma will tell you poor air quality is tremendously bad for them. My Mom and son-in-law's father (retired fireman) have COPD and any air pollution from smoke, smog or dust sends them into distress. Ever see someone gasping for air on the brink of dying? I have, not nice. If you read the statistics there are millions of people that suffer from COPD and air pollution is very dangerous to them.

Then you live in the space station with no outside air circulating in. Air is in you home and workplace. Maybe in AZ the air pollution is less but I can easily see the haze over Boston when I go down there. Since moving to NH 24 years ago my allergies have definately been reduced.
