thats kind of surprising

The only positive attention I get is from dudes in their late 20s through 30s, half of which are driving something beat up like a 94 chevy pickup. "

This is my experience as well. Of course I do live in a small town and I have had this car as my dd for 20 years so maybe they are just use to it by now. Most of my comments are like "Wow, you've still got that old car." and "You've still got that thing looking pretty good." Of course I get the "Does it still run good?" questions to which I smile and say, "It's runs okay,......... for a six cylinder."

Being in the "motor city", there are a lot of people who know what they are. One thing I've noticed around the metro Detroit area is that most people have a lot of repect for the Turbo Buicks. Many people stop what they're doing and stare. The all so common nice car comments never get old to me. I have had plenty of performance cars, and it seems the "legend" of the Buicks never fade. Every now and then you have to show the arrogant young folks what the little V6 can do. After the first time, they dont step up for a challenge any more.

I recall one instance last spring. I just got the car out, cleaned it up, and decided to get some fresh 110 turbo blue. My neighbor has seen me work on it for the past two years prior, but had never ridden in it before. I get to the main road, light traffic, and see three bikes coming and an Eagle Talon. A bunch of young kids talking smack back and forth about racing while stopped at the red light. I knew the light was pretty long so I get behind the bikes, figuring the bikes SHOULD walk on the Talon. I was wrong, as inexperienced young riders didnt know how to ride too well. One stalled the bike on takeoff, and the Talon put about three or four lengths on them. So I get around the bikes and come up next to the Talon at the next light. First thing out of the kids mouth, "Is that one of those fancy V6's?" I reply with "It could be". He then revs his motor and I could hear the blowoff valve. At this point I'm thinking this kid needs a lesson in 3.8 litre SFI. I finally see the light go to yellow on the other side, stomp the gas while holding the brake to build boost. When the light turned green, I launched on the MT DR's, and heard my neighbor gasp and a HOLY #$%^!!!!!! I put about 10 lenghts between us, and slowed down. The guy in the Talon wouldnt even come up next to me so I could see the look on his face. I slowed down to about 10mph, and he just turned off. Needless to say, my neighbor wore a smile for about a week or two straight, and kept telling everyone he knew about the incident. I just smile.:D

I saw the guy about two weeks later at a local car gathering. He saw me pulling in, and by the time I found a spot to park and got out, I saw him pull out and drive away. Coincidence, maybe he was leaving anyway? I'll never know for sure, but I have an idea!!!!!!

Thats my most recent story:biggrin:
