Not a Buick.. but mean non-the-less :)

9.62 with a 1.42 60 foot top down.

Vette

:D

And some thought it only worked on 4 and 6 cyl cars ;)

Yes. Its a twin nozzle. He's trying to break the LPE 8.99 record set on a twin turbo Vette. But that 8.9 was on race gas. So far this makes it the fastest SC Vette in the country. Probably the fastest C5 on pump gas. The MPH was low on the 9.6 run becuase when he hit the lockup switch at the 1000ft mark the tires broke loose and started getting squirrelly  .

There is an LS1 getting built with a bigger blower that should run in the mid-upper 7's.. alky kit is on that vehicle already.

Back under my rock :)

That's Freakin Sweet!

It gos to show your
"Old Technonogy", "Backordered", "Inconsistant Hand Assembled", Kit can succesfully handle a vechicle with that much power. ;) LOL

Very Impressive!

Matthew

(I hope you got the joke!)

Going for an alky record makes for some great competition in racing. When will this be allowed in the National Buick events?

Probably never see it at any Buick events, but I would play in a radial tire/alky class.

Way beyond me... its sad that a system that can possibly stop a motor from grenading is not allowwed. That is class racing.. you have rules.. you build the cars around the rules. Dont like the rules.. dont compete in a class.

Case in point, Jason Cramer(RJC) has to disconnect his system when he runs TSM.

Last year I made a class here at a Buick event we held. We called it TSP or turbo street pump :D and the only rule was a gas tank with at least 10 gallons 93 and any small shaft turbo... on drag radials. Altho we had a lot of interest from bigger engine cars.. the 11 car field was neat. ATR gave a single shot exhuast system to the winner. Second place got an ATR sway bar. I red lighted on one of my runs.. This year it couldnt happen.

Maybe someone with a little clout can do sumthen.. not me.. tho at BG I will see if I can get any ears to listen.

Before years end.. there will be a Buick running mid 9's with a kit.

Matthew,

Ya know the owner of that Vette(Doug) was here at the track yesterday on vacation and I asked him the same question.. do you need a controller with mapping for RPM, MAF.etc.. his words were No. Leave it simple. Just make it reliable.

BTW.. someone may not like your joke :D

Ditto... hope the first part can be changed.

I didn't know you organized that class, that's great and really good choice of rules for a street car! That is exactly how I set my car up also, the new MT DRs, small shaft turbo (TA-62), and of course the methanol:D . My car is actually a TSS setup, but I haven't ran race gas yet.

With so many people running alky kits, I think there will be more influence towards creating alky competition at these events. It's like you said, it takes the right person to get it going, aka racing/event politics;)

It just seems kind of silly to me that you can run C-16 race fuel, but methanol injection isn't allowed. I think that eventually it will be allowed, maybe in its own class.

The common excuse is that it's hard to police, ie make sure it's only a legal chemical. Ya, like tampering with fuels is just so impossible.

IMO, it's just like so many other rules, that just so often makes class racing a game for the rich.

I'm convinced that Bracket Racing forever ruined any effort for getting cars off the street and onto the track, which is what organized Drag Racing was supsoed to be about. *We're* right back to where things were in the 1940's. Just look some of the death rates, ie San Diego is a real horror story.

IMO, it would be a milestone in the Drag Racing Community if the Buicks brought Drag Racing Back to the realm of the average guy could have a shot a winning or even making a good showing.

Again, IMO, devote a class to where having a practical street car, that could be raced, would be GREAT. Let guys make the engine easy to work on, ie remove the A/C. Full weight car. Stock ecm based. Stock heads/ Turbo. Stock or stock type replacement headers. Brakes, open. Stock location suspension, coil-overs OK. No slicks. No NOS. No Girdles. Bring in some creativity. There is just so much that can be done, that would foster creativity. And IMO, creatitivity should be encouraged, rather then out lawed.

OK, I'll quit ranting now....
