This filter ok???

Every year I change my trans fluid/filter and usually use NAPA house brand but I wanted to try the WIX filter cause I know they are great. So I ordered the WIX 58896 trans filter kit, and usually the filters I get are like mesh, but the filter material on the WIX is the same as their oil filter, is this ok? Posted a pic

The material appears to be Pleated paper, I would think that a good quality filter like WIX should be fine

The Felt and Paper type trap smaller particles but, have less fluid flow.

That is weird, most of the Wix are Nylon Mesh. I don't see any listed on RockAuto's site but, they did add the bottom feed 700R4 filter to most Apps. with 2004R Trans. Maybe it's a Mesh type.

Do ya think it would hurt my trans?...I race the car, and I trust WIX filters, but unless it blocks flow a lot then i should be ok I guess

It shouldn't hurt anything. Many use this type with no problems and since you keep the Fluid/Filter changed regularly thatt's a +.

Ok awesome...I personally think WIX and BALDWIN make the best filters, I run both for oil, but thanks again for the input...

hello people: I have to ask how the fluid looks after 1 season? And since you change your fluid so often have you ever tried syn. fluid? I always wondered if it made any diff.

I average 30-40 track runs a year, and lots of street duty as well, and every march when I change the fluid it has been nice and red, the key is to change the fluid/filter often, just like engine oil.

When I had my Hi-Pro trans built by Eric and Dynotech I asked what fluid to use, he said any good Dexron III and you should be good to go. I was going to switch to Dexron VI, but have been running Dex III for 3 years and have had no problems at all, Eric knew his $hit, so I trust him....:smile:
