Were you just issued 1 plate for the rear?
I got antique plates for the 79TA and they only gave me one plate, I asked and the gal said nope, you only get one for the rear.....this is less than month after I was stopped and given a warning ticket for not displaying a front lisence plate...WTF Is this a law or not if they are only issuing 1 plate for antiques??

That's all my brother got when he registered my grandfather's '72 Ford van.

Ok, hold on. You have two 1979 License Plates that you supplied to the County office for approval?

Because you have to get them to approve the 1979 plates and then they give you a tag that you put on the bolt of the rear license plate. That's how we did it with the '53 GMC (we had 1953 "FARM TRUCK" plates that they said we couldn't use because it would have to be registered as a Farm Truck. )

No I didn't supply any plates. Just turned in the form to get the car registered as an antique and get the new antique plates, and they gave me only 1 plate. Looks like TexasT experienced the same thing so thats all they issue....guess I'll keep that in my pocket for the next time I get stopped.

If its a state law to display a front plate you would think they would issue 2 plates in this case since they are issueing me the new plates.

There are issues with the inspection sticker too. My brother got tired of trying to explain not needing one and just got it inspected to avoid the hassle of getting pulled over.

These plates my brother got were white and had antique on them. Who Needs 8, I have seen the ones you are talking about at shows so that route is available too. Those plates must be in good condition to qualify to get approved and get the tags .

What are the rules on the inspection sticker? I thought I had heard it was every 2 years with an antique registered car, but my inspection guy didn't seem to know, he didn;t think there was any difference...but he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer either.

I thought "Antique" didn't need inspection because they're only supposed "to be driven in parades" and "classic" plates needed inspection because they can be driven anywhere at anytime.

And the inspection only has to meet the inspection standards of the year of the car. Because with the '53, all it needed for inspection were all the lights to work, the wipers to work, and have a full brake fluid reservoir (actually stopping was not needed, lol). It didn't need safety belts, even though I did put them in.
