This was a very tough decision to make this post but since we lost a very close family member years ago so I felt compelled.. The A&E special has touched our family in many way's that can't be explained and we want to let the Spina's know they are in our prayers. Keep up the good work Joe!

Dont know whats going on but will definately give the Spina family a prayer from our house this evening.

A&E Intervention

You know Scot I just saw the episode on A&E. John hopefully your son continues on the path to recovery from his addiction. Good luck to you John and hopefully you and Joe's relationship will continue to grow strong to bring your family together. This must have been VERY TOUGH times on you and your family over the years. Hopefully he now has a job at Caspers. Good luck sir...

Yeah, us too... My wife is still trying to recover from her brother... This has touched us more than one will know and like I said before The spina's are in our prayers to a happy recovery that leads to a better life with the whole family...

John,

May God bless your family.
Prayers sent.

Over here I have more prayers and crossed fingers for you John. I wish you and Joe well on the path to recovery.

Thanks guys. It has been a rough road, My youngest son Joe being a heroin addict for six years. That stuff is bad news and it's everywhere. I think everyone is close to or knows an addict, be it drugs, alcohol, and any number of different things people get into. It's pretty rampant regardless.

Having a kid as a user is particularly numbing. The show put my whole family out there, but the reward is Joe got the best help available. It's been six months clean so far...

We did the intervention soup to nuts and they televised it last night. Filmed back in February. I think it's on-line at Intervention - A&E TV - Episodes, Videos & Schedule if you want to check it out. Those real-life things aren't for everyone though - sort of difficult to watch.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. And, if you know an addict, do them a favor and intervene. It does actually work sometimes.

Hey John,
I hope everything works out for you and your family. I have two young sons too, and I can't imagine how difficult this must have been for you. You're a good man and I will keep your family in my prayers. Chris

John,

I pray that Joe stays clean from here on out and you continue to grow closer as a family. It is wonderful to hear that he got help and has been clean for 6 months. My wife's brother that lived with us on and off here in TN wasn't so lucky, He ended up committing suicide over alcohol & prescription pills and it has never been the same without him in our lives and our sons lives. Cherish what you got because when it's gone, it's Gone!

Take care John and I will keep praying for Joe and your family to continue down the road to recovery.

+1 on the prayer's

I have lost way to many friends and family members due to alcohol and drugs :frown: Right now my latest battle has been with my little cousin 18 years old and addicted to oxy :( she did have a rough life growing up and looked for means to escape now its really taking a toll on her. Drug use/abuse really hit home for me as time after time its effected me directly, out of the "crew" of friends I had growing up there is only 2 of us that are still alive :frown: and I will only be 24 years old on Friday.. All died due to some sort of drug/alcohol use that made them not think rationally

John

I admire the way your Family has come together to Help your Son.

I also admire your self analysis of what went wrong in raising Joe, it takes a Special Man to Admit that.

All the Best to your Family.

John-
We will keep you in our family prayers. Six months clean is six months clean. I hope that he stays away and strong.

John,

Prayers go out to you and your Family. Good luck with everything. I'm an employee for A&E and I work in the IT dept for 10yrs. Anyway prayers go out to you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the spina family.

My Brother in law has been fighting a alcohol problem for yrs. He has hit rock bottom. My sister has divorced him and his kids has pretty much pushed him out of their lives. Sunday nite he attempted to kill himself. He has now accepted the fact that he has a problem and is now been committed to camp buttner somewhere down in eastern NC.

I wish him all best in his path to recovery!

Scott

I'm sorry for the lose that your family has endured over a very similair issue.

John, I am sorry to hear of your family's issue but I think that all of your family is / was very brave and only looking forward to your sons recovery and well bering for the family. My prayers and wishing of inner peace for you & your family go out to you. God Bless & God Speed to your sons recovery and the strengthening of the family.

Just watched the show online. John your son seems like a very smart, amaing kid that got caught up in the mess that seems to be so
hard to get away from. I pray my son does not end up there all the time.
It is awesome what you did and with your network of friends takes guts to
put this all out to the public where many people would be to ashamed to.
I am glad your son listened and decided to get help.
Must feel great to have him back sober

John,
I hope Joe continues on his journey to a full recovery. He is in good hands with you being his father. I wish you and your family all the best in these trying times.
